Alex Balance Board

Balance boards are instruments that use a flat, hard top that you stand on, and an unstable rounded bottom so that to use it, swift movements and Balance is needed to do this exercise. Balance boards are used in a variety of ways, from rehabilitation to sports fitness.

The equilibrium in your body is your center of balance that is necessary for almost every activity that you do. Whether it is large motor skills like walking and running, or fine motor skills like threading a needle, your equilibrium affects it. Sometimes activities can lead to injuries that can damage your equilibrium, making it hard for you to be coordinated. Balance boards are used in therapy to restore equilibrium as your brain works harder to keep you balanced on the board.

Everyone can benefit from coordination training while on a balance board. The balance board requires all of the parts of your body to work together, or you'll fall off or stumble. Using a balance board can help you to coordinate your body so that all of the parts are working together to keep you on the balance board, great for athletes in sports that use their whole bodies.

When exercising on a balance board, if you slip or stumble, you'll have to respond immediately. A balance board can help improve your reaction time as you learn to act quickly to correct a mistake, and not to over-correct. Athletes who need to react quickly like rugby players may use balance boards to improve their reaction times.

A study that was published in a 2004 “American Journal of Sports Medicine” found that women who suffered from frequent ankle sprains while playing volleyball had a significant reduction in ankle sprains after training on a balance board. It is hypothesized that the balance board strengthens the ankles, so that they are less likely to become sprained when pressure is applied through sports or everyday activities.

You can use a balance board much like you would an exercise ball and reap the benefits of exercising and training with an added degree of difficulty. Whether you attempt to hit a baseball while balancing, do pushups on the board or catch a football while on the board, it can add a degree of difficulty to activities you are comfortable with. Balance boards can help add to your skill so that you're trained in a more difficult activity to become better at the regular variety.

Balance POD 16CM

The Balance pod is a small and portable half dome made out of inflatable vinyl Rubber.  A user can run, jump, hop, walk, or even bounce across the balance pod surface. Each maneuver provides different results and works different muscles, helping to tone the legs, thighs, buttocks, and the core muscles.

The pods can be easily transported from home to the office, park, or gym. They are not only useful for working out and improving balance, but can also be part of a rehabilitation program.

Balance pods have two sides. One side features bumpy nodes that protrude from the surface, evenly spaced. The other side of the pod is flat and smooth. The balance pod can be used with either surface facing the ground. Each surface provides different benefits as seen in the video.

People of all exercise skill levels can use a balance pod. For easier workouts, the pod is placed with the flat side facing the floor. This arrangement allows the exerciser to work on his balance and learn important exercise steps before moving on to a more moderate skill level. Athletes who require a more intense workout use the pods with the flat surface facing them while placing the bumpy side onto the floor. A high level of coordination and balance is needed for this kind of workout, and users should only attempt this workout after the easier workout is mastered.

The bumpy surface of the balance pod is also useful for message therapy. Many people who regularly use balance pods have noticed that their feet feel less tired after workouts. Some have even suggested placing the pods onto the floor, and while seated, rubbing aching feet across the pods surface for relief.

Foam Roller

What Is a Foam Roller?

Foam rolling (Self-myofascial release)  transformed from a once mysterious technique used only by professional athletes, coaches, and therapists to a familiar everyday practice for people at all levels of fitness. Recent information, technology, and affordable products have introduced an increasing array of training and recovery methods to the average person.

Self-myofascial release is a fancy term for self-massage to release muscle tightness or trigger points. This method can be performed with a foam roller, lacrosse ball, Theracane, or your own hands. By applying pressure to specific points on your body you are able to aid in the recovery of muscles and assist in returning them to normal function. Normal function means your muscles are elastic, healthy, and ready to perform at a moment’s notice.
